ILLUSTRATIONS
From 1508-1512, Michelangelo painted his famous frescos on the Sistine chapel ceiling. He nearly lost his sight to the pigment that dripped into his eyes while he depicted bible stories such as Creation of Adam and Expulsion in paint. People have traveled from all over the globe to view Michelangelo's incredible work.
In 1917 Marcel Duchamp presented his piece Fountain to the jury of the American Society of Independent Artists. His fountain, was in fact, a urinal. Although this piece was initially rejected by the jury, it is presently considered one of the most influential works in history.
Although man has been making "art" since he lived in caves, these two pieces in particular show us the broad spectrum of what has been referred to as "art" through the ages, causing much debate as to what art truly is… Click on the thumbnail images below to view some "artwork" by Michael Loscalzo.
